Fire crews control wildfire at Indiana park

A wildfire scorched about 30 acres of south-central Indiana's McCormick's Creek State Park before crews brought it under control.

Lt. Pete Hodge of the Owen Valley Volunteer Fire Department tells The Herald-Times (http://bit.ly/M1WRFM ) fire crews cleared vegetation in a circle Friday afternoon to create a firebreak around the burning area and keep it from spreading.

The fire was reported behind the park's campground about 3:45
p.m. Friday, when the temperature was 102 degrees. The cause hasn't been determined, but weeks of drought have left vegetation
tinder-dry across most of the state.

The park remained open during the fire.
