SOUTH BEND A South Bend man has been charged after allegedly shooting his 6-year-old son in the leg. The man is still on the run, and an arrest warrant has been issued.

The shooting happened at 11 p.m. Thursday night in the 700 block of North Olive Street in South Bend.

The suspect, Kenny Dawaine Lee, 29, reportedly got into a fight with another adult relative of the victim, Jerome Holloway. Prosecutors say Holloway told police Lee was asked by the boy's mother to leave the home.

While leaving the scene on a bicycle, Lee reportedly fired a gun at Holloway, and hit the 6-year-old in the leg. The boy was taken to the hospital.

Prosecutors charged Lee Friday with attempted battery and criminal recklessness, both Class C felonies.

Lee is 5’9, weighing 165 pounds with dark hair.

Anyone with information should contact South Bend police at (574) 235-9263 or Michiana Crime Stoppers at (800) 288-STOP (7867).
