WARSAW A family is looking for the person who helped their loved one when battery fluid exploded in his face.

Stacey Page Online reports that Matt Kirkendall was having car trouble Friday. He stopped and opened the hood, and the battery exploded, spraying his eyes and face with metal and battery fluid.

Somebody called 911 and stayed with Kirkendall, wiping his face until emergency crews arrive. The family doesn't know who it was. They are looking for that person, so they can say thanks. Anyone with information is asked to email chantellebose@gmail.com.

Kirkendall was temporarily blinded by the explosion, but his vision is improving. He is being treated in Fort Wayne.
