A woman convicted of embezzling more than $7,000 from county tourism funds was sentenced in court this morning.
After a two-day bench trial in February, Jennie Carter was found guilty of theft.
According to WKVI Radio Starke Circuit Court Judge Kim Hall sentenced Carter to 18 months in the Dept. of Corrections on Monday morning.
Six months of Carter’s sentence is to be served in the Dept. of Corrections, six under home detention and the final six to be served on probation.
Carter was also fined $2,500, and as a condition of her probation she will not be allowed to hold any positions which involve handling public funds.
