ELKHART The city of Elkhart is demanding that Ontwa Township clean up its dirty sewage.

The Elkhart Truth reports that the township sends sewage to Elkhart for treatment, but the city says that sewage is responsible for corrosive chemical damage throughout the treatment system, including a manhole that collapsed in 2011.

The city isn't happy with how slowly the township is moving to fix the sewage issues. They've created a new agreement with Ontwa, with deadlines and penalties for clean-up.
