Elkhart's Winterfest raises food and donations for local charities

Elkhart’s Winterfest raised over one ton of food and other items for donation to local nonprofits.

Between November 30th and December 9th families came out to partake in the holiday fun, sing carols, do arts and crafts and listen to local musicians.

Santa’s Community Christmas party drew crowds to play games and do crafts with 30 of Santa’s elves.

The Winterfest included performances by That’s Dancing Ballroom, 3 Guys with Rhythm and Concord High School’s Jazz Band. Besides the musical festivities throughout downtown, visitors stopped by the main branch of the library on family day to see puppet shows and have their faces painted.

Overall, 200 clothing items, over 100 toys, and 150 person items and donations were raised for 12 different nonprofits in the area.

The event was hosted and coordinated by Santa’s Pantry and Elkhart Central High School’s National Honor Society. Plans for the 2013 Winterfest will start soon, anyone interested in sitting on the planning committee should contact Debbie Micola at Santa’s Pantry at 574-262-4478.
