Police begin Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.

MGN Online

Indiana police are beginning a campaign to crackdown on drunk driving.

In 2011, 32,367 people were killed in car crashes, and a third of those fatal crashes involved a drunk driver. 9,878 died in alcohol-related crashes; that adds up to one drunk driving death every 53 minutes.

260 law enforcement agencies in the state, including some here in Michiana, are participating in a Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign. Police will be aggressively looking for drunk drivers with sobriety check points and other patrols.

The campaign runs through September 5th.
