A former soldier who lost his lower right leg during an attack in Afghanistan has been acquitted of a felony charge related to his firing a gun during an argument outside an Indiana bar the day before a planned homecoming parade in his honor.

A Tippecanoe County jury on Friday found 23-year-old Eric Braman not guilty of criminal recklessness but convicted him of a misdemeanor charge of carrying a handgun without a license.

The Journal and Courier reports (http://on.jconline.com/OfXpgL ) Braman claimed he fired the shots when he had a flashback to the war during a confrontation with another man in August 2011.

Braman's attorney says Braman has post-traumatic stress disorder.

Braman faces up to one year in jail when he is sentenced Sept. 27.
