Democrat Brendan Mullen has conceded to Republican Jackie Walorski in northern Indiana's 2nd District congressional race.

"We have marched the ball all the way down the field, and we lost by one point," Mullen said.

Mullen and Walorski were neck and neck for most of the night. Ultimately, Walorski was declared the winner by less than four thousand votes.

The Iraq War veteran and small businessman says he congratulated Walorski on her victory Tuesday night.

Walorski is a former state representative who was making her second run for the seat now held by Democrat Joe Donnelly. Donnelly was elected to the Senate Tuesday night.

Mullen remained mum about future plans to run for office.

"We don't know what is next," he said. "But, I will continue to fight for what is right for the working families here in the second congressional district."

Walorski joins 5th District winner Susan Brooks in becoming the first Republican congresswomen from Indiana since Cecil Harden, who served five terms before losing in 1958.
