SOUTH BEND, Ind.--- Big changes next week for Michiana drivers.
IN-DOT is starting several projects on Monday as part of the new U.S. 31 project.
Most of the changes impact the south side of South Bend and St. Joseph County.
U.S. 31 will be down to one lane in each direction between Kern Rd. and the U.S. 31 bypass.
This project will last most of the summer.
Johnson Rd. will also be closed permanently at U.S. 31 between main and south St. Joseph St. as crews work to build a new Bridge.
In order to avoid delays drivers are asked to find alternative routes.
