The future of South Bend’s Avon Theatre is up for discussion at Monday’s Common Council Meeting.
The St. Joseph County Public Library now owns the boarded up theatre downtown. The library has plans to tear it down along with two other buildings for more parking and a future expansion.
The proposed compromise with South Bend’s Historic Preservation Commission to remove the building’s Terra Cotta facade before the Avon is torn down was rejected.
The decision on what will happen to the Avon Theatre will come at tonight’s meeting, which starts at 7 p.m. in the County City Building.
