Deadly deer accident in Elkhart County

A Cromwell woman is dead after colliding with a deer in Elkhart County this morning.

Susana Meza, 36, was traveling west on US-6 just east of County Road 37 when another vehicle traveling in the opposite direct hit a deer. The deer was then thrown in front of Meza’s pick-up truck causing her to lose control of her vehicle.

Meza drove off the road and into a ditch, where she was killed when the driver’s side door and roof struck a tree.

The early morning crash remains under investigation.
