Gov. Mitch Daniels is appointing an Indiana gambling attorney to run the state's Horse Racing Commission.
Daniels said that Bill Diener will take control of the board as part of a package of new board appointments he announced Tuesday.
Diener replaces retiring chairman Sarah McNaught.
Daniels also tapped a pair of top Republican fundraisers for state boards. Al Hubbard is joining the Indiana Education Roundtable and Dan Dumezich will serve another term on the Indiana Elections Commission. Hubbard was President George W. Bush's finance director and Dumezich is running former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney's campaign in Indiana.
Daniels also tasked Planned Parenthood of Indiana executive
Suzannah Overholt with filling the Democratic seat on the election
commission.
