The pews were packed at Wesley United Methodist Church Thursday night, as Culver residents gathered to remember one of the victims in a double shooting.
16-year-old Stephen Suthard and 44-year-old Michael Price were found dead from gunshot wounds in Price's home Wednesday night.
Police say the two aren't related, but are close family friends.
Few details are being released about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, but Suthard's classmates were called to an all-school assembly Thursday morning, where they learned of his death.
"It was quiet," said Pastor Jacob Juncker, who helped counsel students at the school Thursday. "And, in talking with the students, it was uncomfortably quiet at Culver Community High School today."
After the emotional day at school, dozens of students came by the church Thursday night to mourn the loss of their friend.
Many students were seen holding hands in the pews and hugging in the aisles.
Suthard's death is especially hard for them because of their close-knit school.
"It's a small high school," Juncker said. "They all knew who Stephen was. They're all going to miss him."
Most students were too emotional to speak at Thursday's service, but lit candles in Stephen's honor and wrote messages that will be delivered to his family.
Autopsies for Stephen and Price are scheduled for Monday.
Police expect to learn more about what happened Wednesday night after those results are released.
