A rescue group whose animals were wilting under this month's heat is breathing a sigh of relief after receiving donations of air conditioners.
Melissa Blair of the Animal Rescue Fund in Muncie says the group put out a plea for cooling equipment on its Facebook page after its old air conditioner began struggling to keep up with the heat.
Blair tells The Star Press (http://tspne.ws/OMqDzb ) that the 121 animals housed by the group were lethargic. A pig was spending its time in a wading pool.
She says the group has been inundated with help since its plea. A property management company donated a new central air conditioning system to help the animals. The shelter also has fans, window air conditioners and pools filled with cool water.
