Dozens of school corporations across Indiana are delaying the start of classes by two hours Tuesday as the state braces for the coldest weather of the season.

School systems from northwestern Indiana to the Ohio River began posting the delays Monday afternoon.

The National Weather Service predicted wind chill readings across the state would drop to as much as 20 below Monday night and Tuesday morning. Such cold air creates the threat of frostbite to exposed skin within 30 minutes.
