As the cold weather continues to swoop in you may be wondering what to do with your kids to keep them from sitting in front of the TV all day or playing that video game. Well, we may have an idea for you, roller skating.
The month of October is National Roller Skating Month. Interesting enough, President Reagan declared October National Roller Skating Month back in 1983.
While skate parks are scarce around the nation, there are several around Michiana. One of them is USA Skate Center in Mishawaka.
USA Skate Center was built in 1975 and has been in the same family for 38 years and plans to stay in business, which is good because roller skating is a fun, inexpensive way to hang out with the family or friends.
“Monday nights of course is our dollar night from 6 to 8 p.m. where admission is a dollar, skates are a dollar. We have dollar hot dogs, dollar slice of pizza, dollar small sodas dollar snow cones and dollar popcorn,” explains operating manager Mike Snowden.
It’s not just Monday that has great deals. They have ladies night on Wednesday and a family fun pack on Sunday.
