The hearing for two brothers connected to a string of landscaping service scams was postponed on Monday.

The duo, known as the Franklin Brothers, had their court appearance delayed after they asked for a public defender.

The brothers were banned from conducting business within the South Bend city limits after accruing numerous scam convictions. Despite their ban, the Franklins were back on the job just two months after the initial court order was issued.

Gary Franklin of Wayne’s Tree Service was convicted of scamming elderly women several times in the 1990s. His brother Rick pleaded guilty to 42 charges in 2004 after he was arrested for running a stolen property ring in Kentucky.
