Boat company treats employees and their families to the fair

More than 1,000 people got into the Elkhart County 4-H Fair free Friday, thanks to a New Paris boat company.

Smoker Craft invited all of its roughly 300 employees out for a night of family fun. Each worker was allowed to bring up to ten family members. It was part of their annual 'Family Reunion', but this is the first year the company held the event at the fair.

They provided food, drinks and ride wristbands for kids.

"I think it really helps with money and everything because things are so expensive these days," said Mya Eling, whose stepfather works for Smoker Craft. "Times like this, it really brings us out together and makes us bond as a family."

Keven Rogers is a welder at Smoker Craft and says it's nice for the company to treat its employees to a special get together every year. He says it's an opportunity to spend quality time with his kids without having to break the bank.

"They're pretty much giving back," he said. "It's nice, especially with families."

The Elkhart County Fair runs through July 27.
