Police from all over the area have a message for Michiana drivers - stay off the roads!

The U.S. 20/31 Bypass in St. Joseph County remains shutdown between State Roads 2 and 23. Slick roads and blowing snow are the reason for this restriction.

Police also hope drivers will avoid the Indiana Toll Road. Emergency crews are on the scene of an accident near mile marker 66 eastbound. Five vehicles, including a semi were involved in the crash. One person was injured. Police say those injuries appear to be non-life threatening

The Cass County Road Commission and South Bend city officials also are encouraging people to stay home.

There are numerous vehicles stranded in the middle of roadways in Cass County making it difficult for street crews to plow.

Newscenter 16 will continue to monitor travel conditions for the Michiana area.
