Berrien Co. police standoff ends without violence

Berrien Co., Ind. The following release was received by NewsCenter 16 via email.

On July 20, 2013, Officer Rob Hahn was dispatched to a suicidal 33-year old subject at an address of: 8955 Warren Woods Road.

Officer Hahn learned from the caller that there may have been a firearm involved. The 33-year-old suicidal subject refused to come to the door for the police, nor would he follow verbal commands from the police to exit his home.

Officers believed that the suicidal subject was inside of the house possibly armed with a firearm.

The Berrien County Tactical Response Unit was activated and several hours into the incident, the suicidal subject exited his house where he was subdued by the Berrien County Tactical Response Unit.

Officers assisting the Chikaming Township Police Department were the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan State Police, Three Oaks Police Department, Pokagon Tribal Police, and the Bridgman Police Department.

Also on scene were Chikaming Township First Responders and Medic 1 Ambulance.
