If you have a sick child at home, listen up.

Shigellosis is making its way through Indiana.

It is a bacterial illness that causes diarrhea, fever, cramps, nausea and vomiting.

If you do not get your child on antibiotics, the symptoms could last more than a month.

The illness is spread through fecal matter, so make sure you are washing your hands.

If your child has diarrhea for more than 24 hours, you should take them to the doctor.

260 cases are confirmed so far, mostly in central Indiana.
