South Bend, Ind. A four-month-old girl is on life support after apparently being abused by her father.

On Thursday afternoon at approximately 3:00 p.m., South Bend Police received a 911 call from the 1400 block of E. Dubail Street in reference to a four-month-old not breathing. Officers and South Bend Fire Department medics were immediately dispatched

St. Joseph County Metro Homicide was also contacted to investigate, and they spent several hours at the home.

Investigators arrested 22-year-old Bryan Alexander Michel. He's charged with felony neglect and faces up to 12 years in prison.

HIs daughter's name is Halo. Although neighbors never saw the young infant playing in the front yard, the mother's friend sent out plenty of prayers for Halo on facebook.

“When I heard it was a baby, that tore me up,” says one neighbor driving by the house. “It's tearing me up, because you know… especially a 4 month old.”

One neighbor, Brenda Barnes says, “The paramedics were holding her and she was just like… kind of like she was lifeless. I would say they left two minutes later.”

Neighbors say they never suspected there was any abuse going on at the house.

If they had they would have called child protective services.

The charges would likely be upgraded if the little girl, who is in critical condition and on life support, does not live.
