An audit which found that dozens of potentially unauthorized users had access to Fort Wayne's computer system blames the city's technology department for the oversight.
The internal audit spanning the period from 2009 to 2011 concluded that Fort Wayne's technology department had failed to regularly review who had access to the computer system.
The Journal Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/MZmAz7 ) the audit found 86 active user accounts out of 2,277 for employees who were classified as terminated. One such account had the ability to access the city's system remotely.
The city's technology department responded to the audit by saying it will work with Fort Wayne's information technology contractor, Atos, to create policies to avoid access concerns.
