LAPORTE Folks will be on the hunt for leprechauns this weekend in LaPorte County.
Share Foundation with the Handicapped is hosting its 19th Annual Leprechaun Hunt on Sunday, August 4th at Sharing Meadows.
The core of the family fun event involves for searching for leprechaun statues in the meadow. Each statue has a sticker on the back, redeemable for cash prizes totaling $5,600. The statues are actually made in the ceramics studio at Sharing Meadows.
General tickets to the event are $40 in advance; senior citizen advance tickets cost $35. Just call (219) 778-2585 or purchase tickets online. The entrance fees go up $10, to $50 and $45, at the gate. Children under 13 enter free if accompanied by parents or grandparents.
Proceeds benefit Share Foundation with the Handicapped, a home for the mentally disabled. The money funds the activities and fun times that Father Dennis Blaney says makes many say, “I don’t want to go home.”
The gates open at 11, and the Leprechaun Hunt runs from noon to 5p.m. Food and entertainment are available from noon to 6p.m. The afternoon includes a magician, hay rides, Irish music, as well as a feast of corned beef, roasted corn, beer, wine and other refreshments.
