With the American Red Cross’s summer blood supply low, the local Red Cross organizations hope the return of students to Michiana will mean an increase in the number of donors.
About 20 percent of blood collected in the Great Lakes Region comes from high school and college age donors.
The Red Cross is seeking more volunteers to maintain the nation’s blood supply and will host a few blood drives this week to do so.
Tuesday’s drive is at the Masonic Lodge in Buchanan running from noon until 5:45.
There are two more blood drives in St. Joseph and Sawyer starting Wednesday.
