The Indiana Public Access Counselor says that Mayor Pete Buttigieg did not violate any public access laws.

Last month, Valerie Schey filed a complaint with the counselor.

Schey says she has been requesting data about the city’s finances from the administration for months but has received no response.

The counselor said that Schey did not follow protocol to request the information.

He also said the two requests were inquiries rather than requests for actual records.

Buttigieg released a statement on Friday regarding the situation.

“I hope we can now focus on upholding a reasonable process for information sharing,” he said. “Citizens expect us to work together, and my door remains open to council member Valerie Schey.”
