AP INTERVIEW: Gregg tamps down Dem expectations

Democratic gubernatorial candidate John Gregg is downplaying expectations for Democrats should he beat the odds and win the governor's office in November.

Gregg told the Associated Press Tuesday he wouldn't try to repeal new right-to-work or school voucher laws because of the nearly impossible chance of getting the Republican-dominated General Assembly to reverse course on two of its top priorities.

Gregg has argued throughout the campaign he would be best positioned to work with the Legislature because of his experience working with Republicans as the former speaker of the Indiana House of Representatives.

Former House Democratic Leader Patrick Bauer said Tuesday that Democrats have to fight against issues they believe are bad for Hoosiers lest the party become "Republican Light" -- a watered-down alternative to Republicans.
