St. Joseph County budget cuts

St. Joseph County is facing an $8 million budget shortfall this year and county leaders said the department heads have to come up with millions.

Monday, September 17, 2007 is the deadline for the heads to come up with $3.4 million.

A few areas that have to cut the budget include the Sheriff’s Department because it is the largest. Moreover, the jail budget has to cut 6% and the Parks and Health departments will lose 5%.
