It was a busy morning at South Bend's Central Fire Station as dozens of firefighters and police officers took part in a free breakfast as a thank you from the community.
Congressman Joe Donnelly and Mayor Steve Luecke helped serve eggs, potatoes, and fruit.
It is the tenth annual Fire and Police Appreciation Day, put on by the community oriented policing leadership council.
“My one uncle was a fireman my other uncle was a policeman, so I know the sacrifice that these men and women make and I want to give them all due honor,” said Donnelly.
Officers and firefighters who attended also had the chance to win a 42-inch plasma television.
The day was not just about breakfast, though. Lunch and dinner will also be served throughout the day.
