More than 30,000 people have applied online for the 2,000 production jobs expected to be available at the Honda plant being built in southeastern Indiana.
The company began accepting applications for the jobs on August 26th. The deadline was Sunday.
The number of applications is nearly three times the population of Greensburg, where the factory is being built.
The state will review the information before turning it over to Honda's human resources staff.
Honda says it will consider only those who live in a 20-county area around the factory site so that they live within an hour's drive. That ranges from Marion and Henry in central Indiana down south to Switzerland and Jefferson counties.
Honda plans to produce 200,000 Civic sedans a year after its new factory reaches full production.
