There is a new development for downtown Mishawaka. Dozens gathered on Wednesday for the groundbreaking of the Riverwalk Townhomes.
The project includes 20 two-story homes, along Mishawaka Avenue, east of Battell Park.
Mishawaka Mayor Jeff Rea attended Wednesday morning's ceremony. He thinks the townhouse development will help bring people back to the downtown area.
“There has been very little residential development in the downtown area. People have moved out to the suburbs and around, so this actually brings population back into the downtown. Things like our Riverwalk, and Bueter Park and the improvements that we have done at the other spots down here have really brought people back to our urban core, we want downtown to be the gathering spot again,” said Rea.
The townhouses cost anywhere from 250 to 350 thousand dollars.
