Two letters sent to the federal government opposing a time-zone change in southwestern Indiana were forged.
The typewritten letters to the U.S. Department of Transportation appeared to be from residents of the small town of Ireland and parishioners of St. Raphael Catholic Church in Dubois.
But town residents and church members say their names were used without their permission.
There's no penalty for the forgery, because the Transportation Department files all comments on a proposed time change.
Supporters are asking the federal government to reverse last year's switch of six southwest Indiana counties to the Central time zone.
The Transportation Department is accepting comments on the proposal through Friday.
