Man shot while hunting

A Fort Wayne man is recovering tonight after being shot in the face during a hunting trip.

The accident happened last night near State Road 116 in Markle, Indiana.

63-year-old Miguel Gudino and his nephew 36-year-old Luis Cárdenas were hunting in the area when Gudino sat down to take a break.

A short time later Cárdenas came to check on his uncle but when he peeked around a large tree he was shot in the face.

Conservation officers say Gudino thought his nephew was a squirrel.

Cardenas is now being treated at a hospital in Fort Wayne.
