Activists seeking tougher laws for dog fighting

Animal rights activists who are upset over the Vick dog fighting case are pushing for Hoosier lawmakers to toughen state laws against dog fighting.

The current laws say that organizing or promoting a dog fight is a felony, but Indiana is one of 26 states where watching an animal fighting contest is only a misdemeanor.

Animal control officers want Indiana to make attending a dog fight a felony as well.
