Indiana authorities say charges have been filed against two teenagers in the case of a Hammond couple found dead in an Illinois forest preserve.
Lake County prosecutor Bernard Carter said Sunday that a judge had approved criminal charges. There were no details on what charges were filed or on the identities of the suspects. Hammond police say they plan a Monday news conference in the case.
The victims, 78-year-old Milton and 76-year-old Ruby McClendon, are the parents of Chicago CLTV television host Garrard McClendon. Officials say Ruby McClendon died of a gunshot wound to the head and Milton McClendon died of multiple gunshot wounds.
Their bodies were found in a Calumet City, Ill., forest preserve on Oct. 19. The deaths were classified as homicides.
