Closing of central Indiana tool plant to cost 130 jobs

About 130 workers will lose their jobs as a central Indiana tool-making plant is shutting down.

Company officials say the Duffy Tool and Stamping factory in Muncie will close by the end of October.

Duffy's parent company, Cleveland, Ohio-based Brittany Stamping LLC, tells The Star Press that the closing decision was caused by poor national economic conditions "created by the collapse of the banking and auto industries."

Duffy has had its Muncie work force shrink in recent years since it had about 450 workers at two city plants in 2001.
