The 18-year-old son of Indiana University president Michael McRobbie was arrested on misdemeanor drug charges.

A police report says Lucian McRobbie was arrested early Sunday on two preliminary charges of possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. He was released on his own recognizance.

McRobbie is an IU student and lives in a Bloomington campus residence hall.

University spokesman Larry MacIntyre says the school's president considers the arrest a private matter and that it will be handled accordingly.

MacIntyre says the university never discusses the specifics of student disciplinary matters. He says the younger McRobbie will be treated just like any other student.
