The Marion County prosecutor has filed a felony charge of official misconduct against an Indianapolis police officer accused of paying a prostitute for sex while he was in uniform and driving a police-issued vehicle.
A warrant was issued Tuesday for the arrest of Officer James Ingalls, who also faces one misdemeanor count of patronizing a prostitute.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Ingalls approached the prostitute more than once about having sex for money at Garden City Elementary School, where Ingalls worked part-time as a guard. Prosecutor Carl Brizzi says Ingalls also warned her to stay off the streets during police prostitution sweeps.
There was no answer Tuesday evening at an Indianapolis telephone number listed for Ingalls.
