Clarksville town officials say a contract has been signed for the sale of the now-closed Colgate-Palmolive plant along the Ohio River.
Clarksville Redevelopment Commission director Rick Dickman says the sale should be closed by the end of the year. He declined to identify the buyer or describe how the site would be used.
In August, Dickman suggested the former toothpaste factory could be renovated into condominiums, shops, restaurants and perhaps a hotel and convention center with views of downtown Louisville, Ky.
The sale would include the historic 40-foot-diameter Colgate clock, a local landmark.
The real estate agent handling the sale for Colgate declined to comment when contacted by The Courier-Journal of Louisville.
