Barr sentenced to 70 years for deadly stabbing

A South Bend man found guilty of a deadly stabbing was sentenced Wednesday to 70 years behind bars.

In April, Lamont Barr was convicted of killing 44-year-old Adrian Ivey last October.

Ivey died after Barr stabbed him on North Lawndale Avenue, on South Bend's northwest side.

Police say the pair got into a fight over cigarettes in Ivey's truck shortly before the stabbing.

After that, Barr ran off and Ivey started driving.

Ivey was found after he crashed his truck into a tree in the 900 block of Lawndale. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Barr will be sentenced Wednesday.
