Firefighters are working to extinguish a warehouse fire that broke out overnight in Anderson and forced some evacuations.
Fire Chief David Clendenen says no one was injured in the fire that brought some 75 firefighters from several departments to the scene at about 11:00 p.m.
Close to 20 homes in the area were evacuated as a precaution. Clendenen said the residents haven't been allowed to return yet due to heavy smoke that remains in the area.
Firefighters are using heavy equipment to get to any hotspots that remain.
The 15-acre National Tile complex on the city's east side housed a business that used plastics, causing concerns about hazardous materials. Witnesses heard explosions and saw flames shooting 30 to 40 feet into the air.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
