Two men accused of organizing a dogfight at an Evansville park have been charged for the alleged fight, which police say attracted about 300 onlookers.
Johnathan Adams and Dewone Broomfield were arrested after police saw them trying to put the dogs into their cars and leave the scene of the March 2nd fight between two pit bulls.
Adams faces a preliminary charge of having an animal fighting contest. Broomfield also faces that charge plus a preliminary charge of carrying a handgun within 1,000 feet of a school.
The Evansville Courier & Press reports that dogs involved in the fight are being held in quarantine. Their future will be decided by the Animal Care & Control Commission.
