People who sell or otherwise knowingly provide alcohol to minors would face stiffer penalties under a bill that has won final legislative approval in the House.
The bill now goes to the governor for his consideration. The House approved the bill on a 79-11 vote yesterday.
The bill would stiffen the penalties for minors who obtain alcohol by lying about their age or providing false identification.
It would also allow alcohol to be sold for off-premises consumption on New Year's Day.
