Wabash National Corp. plans to lay off 130 workers in the second job-cutting move in less than a month by the truck-trailer manufacturer.
The Lafayette-based company announced the new layoffs on Friday, saying some production orders it had expected to receive in February failed to come through.
The layoffs follow 150 others last month and will reduce the work force at Wabash National's Lafayette operations to about 2,200 employees.
Wabash National vice president Jim Hasty says the company expects to recall the laid-off workers when market conditions improve.
The company recently announced plans to build a new factory in Franklin, Ky., but Hasty says the layoffs are not related to that project as it will be two years before the new plant is in operation.
