An ex-prosecutor and his longtime investigator face bribery charges alleging that they paid witnesses to withhold or change their testimony in a criminal case.

Sixty-one-year-old Michael J. "Mick" Alexander is the former Delaware County Prosecutor and has been charged with conspiracy to commit bribery, a felony carrying a standard four-year prison term. Forty-one-year-old Jeff Hinds is charged with felony bribery.

Both men pleaded not guilty today in Delaware Circuit Court. They were free on $10,000 bonds. Judge Robert Barnet Jr. set trial for both men for July 14.

According to probable cause affidavits Hinds allegedly persuaded three men to change their accounts of an incident in which a client of Alexander's was charged in exchange for thousands of dollars.
