126 face alcohol-related charges in W. Lafayette

Police have arrested 126 people on alcohol-related charges while patrolling the area near Purdue University.

Indiana State Excise Police say in a news release that officers also cited a grocery store in West Lafayette for selling alcohol to minors over the weekend.

Eight-three minors were arrested on alcohol-related charges, and 35 adults face preliminary charges of providing alcohol to minors. Police also issued eight warnings.

Officers cited a Pay Less store on preliminary charges of sale of alcohol to a minor. John Elliott, a spokesman for parent company Kroger, says the person involved was using someone else's ID.

Officers were in West Lafayette as part of an initiative on six college campuses: Ball State University, Butler University, University of Notre Dame, Purdue University, Indiana University-Bloomington and Indiana State University.
