A program that helps disadvantaged high school students from the Fort Wayne-area prepare for college will receive two million dollars in grants.
Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne's Upward Bound program is slated to receive the grants from the U.S. Department of Education over the next four years.
Upward Bound helps disadvantaged students graduate from college. Students must meet income guidelines and must be the first person in their family to go to college.
The students attend classes on the IPFW campus.
The program initially served 50 students from three Fort Wayne high schools. The additional funding will allow 100 students at more schools to participate.
