Thursday is national colon cancer screening day, and local doctors taking part in stopping colon cancer in its tracks say it's been a great success.
Earlier this week, NewsCenter 16's Maureen McFadden visited doctors at the Michiana Endoscopy Center who were joining 700 physicians nationwide Thursday in hopes of screening 1,000 new patients for colon cancer.
The calls came in, and doctors tested 11 first time patients. More appointments are set up.
Colon cancer is the third deadliest form of cancer in the US, but if found early, it is extremely treatable.
