The American Red Cross has canceled weekend blood drives in parts of Ohio and Michigan because of a strike threat.
Red Cross regional spokeswoman Annie Marckel tells WTVG-TV of Toledothat people who wanted to donate blood in memory of people who died on 9/11 won't have that chance.
Workers are threatening to walk off their jobs with the Western
Lake Erie Region of the Red Cross at 9 a.m. Saturday. The regional
Red Cross operation serves 11 counties in northwest Ohio and
Union leaders say the major issue in the labor dispute involves
health insurance costs.
The Red Cross says its national blood network will keep
hospitals supplied in the event of a strike.
